America’s Next Top Model held auditions in Manhattan on Saturday, but no one saw this coming…
As you can see from the annotation in the video, someone (ignorant) yelled that there was a bomb after a car began to over heat. Thousands of Top Model hopefuls were outside of the hotel where the auditions were to take place, and a stampede insued. Several people were injured, but thankfuly no one seriously. What I noticed was the fight that broke out during the stampede, and the NYPD’s reaction to it. Apparently two females and one male were arrested stemming from the situation. The people who started the whole mele have also been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and inciting a riot. Here’s what ANTM Host/Producer Tyra Banks and her Co Producer Ken Mok had to say about the situation:
“We are concerned by the events that occurred Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of the New York City casting call for the next cycle of ‘America’s Next Top Model. At this time, we still don’t know all the details of what happened or what triggered the incident. We appreciate the efforts of the NYPD and will assist them in any way possible in this matter,”
You saw the line of people in the video. I’m sure the people who cried wolf were trying to get to the front of the line by making other people leave. I see it happen all the time for parties and concerts. I’m pretty sure they didn’t think it would turn out this way.
The saddest part is that the NYPD shut down the auditions, crushing the hopes of thousands of girls 5’7″ and below. I’m sure there were many tears flowing. Sorry ladies, maybe Tyra will reschedule?!?
