Super-producer Ryan Leslie is turning over a new leaf, and spitting a few more bars. If you’re used to hearing him sing, open your heart to the newness. On “5 Minute Freshen Up” he’s talking about cars, freshness… you know, all around stunt life. Check out the official video below, and be on the look out for his new album Les Is More, which will be out sometime this year.
Bobby Ray Simmons, better known as B.o.B is back on the grind in preparation for the release of his forthcoming album Strange Clouds. He’s become the prince of Top 40 rap (you, know hip-pop) and the Ryan Tedder produced “So Good” is a prime example. Spring just started, and this will be the perfect addition to your picnic/cook-out playlist. Watch the video below:
Strange Clouds is in stores on May 1st.
Say what you want about Drake, but what cannot be denied is the fact that the guy knows how to hang a suit! He’s the cover boy for GQ‘s first ever “Style Bible” issue (April 2012), and the photos are impressive. He also shares a few revealing quotables about his life… including his problems with trying to recapture the magic that he had on his early mixtapes. Read what he had to say about that, plus check out the rest of the photos below: Continue reading
Today, in our new artist spotlight, I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to a rising MC from Chicago. His name is Rello, and he’s on a mission to inspire his peers and the world with the positive message in his music. Get to know Rello, and you’ll realize why he’s one artist you need to keep your eye out for:
Andrea: Introduce yourself to the people on TheUptownLounge that may not be familiar with you!
Rello: How are you doing, my name is Rello Dreamer. I’m 19, from Chicago, Illinois and I’m inspiring the world to chase their goals and dreams without limits.
A: Awesome! So talk to me a little about how you plan to inspire young people, and why it’s important to you. Continue reading
Check out this brand new music from young Houston-based MC Cory Jreamz. This 4-track EP Polysemy is his debut, but I’m sure you’ll be hearing more from him soon. The project features production from Reese Jones, YoungMav, & STEEZiLLa. Stream and download below.
I must admit, when I think about Waka Flocka, activist is not the first adjective that comes to mind. But regardless of what I think, he is a spokesperson for PETA, and is featured in a new ad holding a rescue dog named Daphna. He’s been vocal about his distaste for fur and those who wear it, and is now taking his support a step further.
He’s pictured sporting a snapback from SEA Brand which donates it’s proceeds to PACERS National Bullying Prevention Center, a charity that was chosen by Waka’s fans. Nice work. It’s good to see someone using their platform to spread a positive message.
New music from two of my favorite MC’s? I think it’s a good day. Get into this new track “Work” (produced by B. Corder) from New Orleans’ own Dee-1 and H-Town’s Lecrae. These two have been in the studio together several times over the past few weeks, so I’m almost sure that there’s more where this came from.
The Big (K)ing (R)emembered (I)n (T)ime is ready to set the world ablaze yet again with the release of his brand new street album 4evaNaDay. Big K.R.I.T. takes this one without the assistance of any other listed MC’s… but the project does feature saxophonist Willie B. and guitarist Mike Hartnett. Keep reading to find the tracklisting and download links below: Continue reading
After months of speculation about their marital status, (fueled mostly by Amber Rose referring to Wiz Khalifa as her husband in many interviews) the Pittsburgh MC shared via Instagram that his long time girlfriend had accepted his proposal. Raise a glass for them. Call me crazy, but I like their relationship. Wiz has never been ashamed to profess his love for Amber, and apparently he’s treating her like she should be treated. Kudos to them.
