She’s now preparing to release her first single and video “Lost Myself” from a forthcoming project entitled “Hello My Name Is… Bianca Raquel Part One: The Detox” which will be available soon. For now she’s offering supporters the opportunity to take a look at what happened behind the scenes on her video shoot. Take a look below:

If you’re not familiar with Allen Stone yet, here’s your chance to get to know him. He’s definitely an artist you need to look out for in 2012. Via ThisIsRNB:
ThisisRnB.com caught up with soul artist Allen Stone [before] he hit the stage at his sold out show at NYC’s SOB’s. The burgeoning singer/songwriter spoke about his socially conscious and politically inspired songs, including “What I’ve Seen,” and “Unaware.” Allen delved into his feelings about the state of our country, the economy, why things seem to have not changed, and more importantly being an artist that expresses these thoughts through soul music once again.
If you’re headed to SXSW this year, make plans to see one of Allen’s showcase performances. He is a featured artist at the festival in Austin.
Busta Rhymes and Chris Brown star in the video that accompanies Busta’s first release since joining YMCMB. “Why Stop Now” is a braggy/swaggy track, and the dark feel of the Hype Williams-directed video is the perfect backdrop for Chris’ acrobatic dance skills. Watch below:

The Sundance Film Festival is by far one of the largest and most respected in the world. This year’s festival closed this past weekend with a history making win for director Ava Duvernay. In what some saw as a surprise, she was named Best Director: Dramatic Film for her work on “Middle Of Nowhere”; a film about the struggles a woman faces after she loses her husband to incarceration.
With her win, Duvernay became the first black woman to earn that honor, and subsequently shed light on an ever-growing contingent of people of color in the world of film. I personally became a fan of Ms. Duvernay’s work after seeing her film “I Will Follow” last year. A story of a woman dealing with the emotions associated with losing the aunt who raised her, “I Will Follow” struck a chord with me, and inspired a great deal of conversation with my friends and family.
“Middle Of Nowhere” was acquired by Participant Media last week for distribution, so expect to see this film in a theater near you sometime this year. For now, you can watch the trailer here:
After being off the scene for a little while… struggling with drugs and subsequently legal problems, soul star D’Angelo has returned to the stage (following a 12 year hiatus) for a 12 date European tour. His show at Zenith Paris last night (1/29/12) was a treat for fans, as he ran through new material… but also gave thrilling performances of some of his biggest hits. In the following clip, D’Angelo performs “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” for the crowd, and… WOW. He’s still got it. And he looks good doing it. Check it out below:
D’Angelo’s third studio album is titled James River, and is rumored to be completed. No word yet on the release date, but I’m sure that we’ll hear more about this in the coming weeks.
French magazine Funk U has a wrap up of the entire Paris show… you can check it out by clicking here. (Note: The site’s in French. But… if you’re here in the States using Google Chrome, it’ll automatically translate it for you. If not, well… just take my word for it. LOL)
U.K’s very own Ellie Goulding, having already successfully established a name for herself overseas with her debut album Lights (reaching number 1 on UK’s album chart in 2010,) is looking to make her mark in the United States with her electro-folk- pop music. She started off 2012 with a bang with multiple live performances on the Late Show with David Letterman and JetBlue’s Live at T5. Check out this performance of her hit single Lights.
