Artist Jason Mercier is know for creating portraits of celebrities using random abstract objects. He’s created fine art out of everything from licorice to trash, but his most controversial pieces come from a series of portraits of artists who notoriously suffered from substance abuse.
Here’s the kicker: these pieces are made entirely out of pills. His latest addition is a pill portrait of Whitney Houston, who passed away on February 11th. Since there’s been no official confirmation of her cause of death (other than the fact that it was accidental) the portrait is raising eyebrows.
What do you think? Too much too soon, or ironic tribute?
