The biggest names in fashion team up in efforts to fundraise for President Barack Obama’s re-election. Fashion icon and extraordinaire Anna Wintor was the creative force behind “Runway to Win,” a fashion show created to raise money for Obama’s campaign. Wintor has never been shy to share her political opinions and has already raised over $500,000.  She teamed up with actress Scarlett Johansson to host the event, and of course big names came out to support. Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman, and Joan Smalls were just a few in attendance.

Republicans have not been a fan of these fashion fundraisers, as you would imagine.  They’ve deemed the event and “ritzy,” and unnecessary for the campaign. One can’t help but to wonder, what is the problem? Was it the form of the event or who was in attendance? Obama has all types of supporters, including us fashionistas! 2012 presidential candidate Rick Santorum gave away, less than fashionable, grey sweater-vests to supporters that donated $100 or more. “Runway to Win” allows people to not only support Obama, but support him in style.

The “Runway to Win” clothing line has shirts, totes, scarves, more all in support of Obama, and of course all designed by BIG name designers! Beyonce and Tina Knowles tee, Tracy Reese crop-waist sweater, Thakoon Panichgul scarf, and my personal favorite, a retro, cap-sleeve tee by Narciso Rodriguez. Prices range from $40 to 95$. Marc Jacobs, Rachel Roy, Derek Lam, and Grace Tsao are just a few members on the team of political designers for “Runway to Win!” Fashion is all about trial and error, but it is also about support. So if it’s your favorite designer, or favorite political candidate, go out and support! Check out a few pieces below and order a few from the site http://store.barackobama.com/runway-to-win.html!
