In an interesting and somewhat unexpected move, singer/songwriter Ne-Yo is taking his talents to Motown Records, where along with being an artist, he will serve as Senior Vice President of A&R.
In the role, he’ll be responsible for mentoring artists on the label’s growing team, as well as seeking out new talent. Motown is a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, a company that has been making great strides towards the revitalization of it’s imprint. CEO Barry Weiss also appointed Ethiopia Habtemariam to be Vice President of Motown this past September, a position most recently held by Sylvia Rhone.
Ne-Yo’s forthcoming 5th album will be released via the label this summer.
