While the glamorous lure of being an artist can be attractive, the wise know that the real money comes in the creation of material (songwriters, producers.) Terius Nash, widely known by his stage name The-Dream, is a prime example.

While in the UK in support of Rihanna, (he caught one of the shows on the European leg of the LOUD tour)  Mr. Nash stopped to chat with one of the biggest radio personalities in London, Tim Westwood. In the interview, they discussed many things, but most notably, The-Dream revealed that he received a $15 million pay out for writing Rihanna’s monster hit “Umbrella”. Whoo. He also discusses the songwriting process behind Justin Bieber‘s big hit “Baby” and the demise of his marriage to singer/actress Christina Milian. Watch below:

I’m about to pick up my notebook and start writing songs! Apparently I picked the wrong career path LOL.
