Fans of VH1‘s first scripted program Single Ladies were distraught when the network announced that Stacey Dash (who played Val, one of the main characters in the show) would not be returning for a second season. Since then, there hasn’t been much chatter about who would be replacing her, until now.

TV Guide has learned that actress Denise Vasi (pictured above) will join the cast in place of Dash, but will NOT be playing the role of Val. If you’re a fan of soap operas, you may remember Denise Vasi from her role on All My Children Read the statement below:

Single Ladies, VH1’s first scripted program, is about three friends in the world of Atlanta fashion, fame and music. Vasi will play Raquel, a businesswoman from a prominent Southern family. LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea also star.

Production on Season 2 begins in January; the series will return some in early summer.

I’ll be interested to see how they cap off Val’s story…since she was the one with the major cliffhanger at the end of season one. What do you say? Are you still excited about season 2?
