In case you missed it, the 2011 American Music Awards aired last night. If you didn’t watch, you didn’t miss much. Most of the show was pretty boring. There were a few cool moments, and a few great performances that should be noted.
Nicki Minaj kicked off the show with David Guetta…and it was pretty cool. She barely rapped, which was ironic because she took home trophies for best rap/hip-hop artist and best rap/hip-hop album. I thought that was a travesty, but I can’t really say anything because, I didn’t vote! Ha. Check out Nicki’s performance below:
My favorite performance of the night came courtesy of Chris Brown. I might be biased, because he sang my favorite song from F.A.M.E. – the Timothy Bloom penned “All Back”…and then broke out his best Michael Jackson inspired moves to perform Say It With Me. All in all, a very great performance, check it out below:
Drake, the man poised to hold down the number one spot on the Billboard 200 this week, took the stage to perform his number 1 single “Headlines”. He wore the same all black outfit from the video, complete with the Nike batting gloves. One thing that I love about Drake’s performances is his live band. That sets him apart from a lot of hip-hop artists. That being said, the performance was still kinda dry, he basically hopped around the stage for the length of the song. So… yeah, check it down bottom:
