The introduction of crack in the black community is an epidemic, whose effects are still being felt today. Because hip-hop finds its roots in story telling, it should come as no surprise that crack became a popular topic within the genre.

VH1‘s latest addition to it’s “Rock Doc” series is Planet Rock: The Story Of Hip-Hop & The Crack Generation… which was executive produced and narrated by Detective Tutuola Ice T. It’s slated to tell the story of the introduction and development of crack’s influence on hip-hop. It features interviews from The RZA, Raekwon, Snoop Dogg and more. The 2 hour film premieres September 18th at 10/9c on VH1. Watch the trailer below:
