“WEALTH is of the heart and mind…NOT the pocket.” – Pharrell
We talk a lot about what entertainers are not doing with their platform, but Pharrell Williams is definitely using his to positively impact those coming up behind him. He was recently featured on Perry’s Principles, a weekly segment that is aired on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360. It features CNN contributor Dr. Steve Perry’s principles on improving our education system. (You may remember Dr. Perry from Black in America 2)
Known as one of the foremost musical minds in the game, Pharrell has sold nearly 100 million records as a producer, and has also seen success with solo projects, and his band N.E.R.D., and his clothing line, Billionaire Boys Club.
Perhaps most importantly, Pharrell has always had a passion for being positive, and helping young people see that with the right tools, they can be just as successful and talented as he is. With his new project, Kidult.com, Williams is kids a chance to show exactly what they think is important.
As an addition to the site, Pharrell put together a leadership conference for “kidults” ages 14-21 which will take place June 26th in NYC. Registration is $25, but the line-up of speakers is awesome. I want to go myself! For more information, click here.
