June is here! I almost can’t believe it, but 2010 is at its midway point!
June also marks the beginning of Black Music Month. Here’s a little history:
In 2002, President George W. Bush proclaimed the month of June to be Black Music Month in an effort to highlight the great impact that African American music has played in American history in general. Click here to read this year’s proclamation from President Barack Obama.
Music plays a big role here at The Uptown Lounge, so this year, I’ll be highlighting a history making artist everyday, across all genre’s. I hope you’ll learn something, and see that black music is much more than Hip-Hop and R&B.
